The European Patent Office has published a new study entitled ”Patents for tomorrow’s plastics -Global innovation trends in recycling, circular design and alternative sources”, concerning the analysis of patents trends and statistics over the period 2010-2019 that are driving the transition to a circular economy for plastics.
The study aims to provide some insights on the new emerging technologies that foster the reusability, recyclability, and biodegradability of plastic products and it highlights technical, business, and market information linked to the sector of plastics products, detailing which are the main kinds of emerging technologies and which are on the top of the rank, which are the main players among universities, public research organizations, companies, and start-ups that are pushing their development and in which countries they are located.
