The European Patent Office-EPO has published the statistical report ‘Patents and innovation against cancer‘ on patents for the fight against cancer. The report is also released with the aim of contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal SDG 3-Health and Wellbeing and its sub-goals.
The study is completed by an online platform “Technologies combatting cancer“, accessible free of charge and developed in collaboration with 10 national patent offices in Europe, including the Italian Patent Office. The platform aims to simplify the access of industry innovators to all the technical information contained in patents, using predefined patent searches created by experts performed on the Espacenet search engine. This platform presents over 130 data sets on four broad themes: prevention and early detection, diagnostics, therapies, well-being and after-care.
